[EXCERPT] . . . .
Titans demonstrates leadership styles, leadership ethics, and leadership frameworks using the example of s high school football team. Gregory Allen Howard's 2000 film starring Denzel Washington and directed by Boaz Yakin offers an entertaining but insightful glance at the challenges leaders face and optimal means of overcoming obstacles and interpersonal conflicts. Remember the Titans takes place in Alexandria, Virginia in 1971, during the integration of public schools. The ensuing racial tension creates volatile situations for the team, its coaches, and the community. Coach Herman Boone (Denzel Washington) and Coach Bill Yoast (Will Patton) demonstrate their leadership abilities not only by coaching the team to a lossless season but also by navigating through the difficulties of racial tension. Moreover, the students on the team become leaders from political, structural, and symbolic frameworks. The film is therefore an apt vehicle for illustrating how effective leaders deal with change, uncertainty, and hardship. Remember the Titans also addresses the role of teamwork in the leadership process. The characters in Remember the Titans operate within several leadership frameworks, often simultaneously. Individuals in formal and informal positions of power demonstrate their personal leadership styles too. The Titans coaches each lead the team toward football victories and also toward personal triumphs in overcoming racism. Thus, the coaches inadvertently become social and political leaders.
Coach Yoast sacrifices his personal ambition to make the Hall of Fame for the integrity of his team. Being ousted from his long-held position as head coach initially turned him against Boone

Coach Yoast proved himself to be a political leader by the way he handled the ego blows dealt by the school system restructuring, the way he handled Boone's coaching style, and because of the way he handled the town's racism. Racism is an inherently political issue that either galvanizes people or brings them together. Rather than polarize the town and team, both Yoast and Boone work together like politicians do across party lines. Political leaders like Yoast and Boone must disguise their true feelings in order to be effective leaders. Similarly, Yoast sucked up his pride by working as defensive coach after being the head coach for fifteen years. Yoast is one of the strongest political leaders in Remember the Titans.
Boone is far less willing to become humble. He refuses to take advice from Yoast; he can't stand any threats to his authority; and he maintains control over the team by being autocratic, not democratic. When Yoast put Petey on defense after Boone yelled at him, he exercised his best judgment. Yet even though the team won the game, Coach Boone chastised him for threatening his authority. Boone claimed that coddling the players won't prepare them for the rigors of the real world. His framework of leadership is harsh yet realistic. Boone believes that a tough love approach will toughen up the boys and better… READ MORE

READ BELOW - This is an EXAMPLE of what I'm requesting:
My intent with this paper is to interpret and how the frame works of organization was apply in the film *****Remember the Titans,***** were we see leadership, power structure and cultural indifference for the class LED 604. In the film we see different ideologies in an organization and how reframing helps the leaders and the players interpret their circumstances and challenges and how to make adaptive changes.
The main them in this film is as I perceive it, it was racial discrimination in the structure organization of a football team. Racial discrimination is definitely a political issue and this paper shows how the coaches were challenge with the diversity of the players. How to they had to overcome the indifference by working together and getting their players to be of one mind set. They also had to overcome these indifferences to win the championship game.
The film *****Remember the Titans***** takes place in Alexandria, Virginia in 1971 at a black and white High School. Herman Boone (Denzel Washington) is hired as head coach for the school's football team, taking the place of the head coach Bill Yoast (Will Patton) who is white. The black and white members of the football team clash in racially-motivated conflicts on a few occasions throughout their time at football camp. But after several differences and team building efforts by Coach Boone, eventually the team manages to achieve some form of unity, as well as success.
The two coaches don*****t see eye-to-eye on the best to manage the team. Boone is a charismatic leader with brutal, military style approach to coaching. He believes in breaking the players down and then re-building them as a team. Yoast is more laidback and conservative and feels Boone is pushing the players too hard. This difference in leadership styles lead to several confrontations between the two coaches and between the players. They realized that they had to reorganized, or restructure, even though it was a powerful but high-risk approach to improvement. Restructuring is a challenging process that consumes time and resources with no guarantee of success. Coach Bonne was aware of the problems he would engage by accepting the head coach position at a primary white school.Coach Boone used four frames to manage the football team that consisted on structural, human resources, political and symbolic. An example for each of the frames can be seen when Coach Boone said *****We will be perfect in every aspect of the game. You drop a pass, you run a mile. You miss a blocking assignment, you run a mile. You fumble the football, and I will break my foot off in your John Brown hind parts and then you will run a mile. Perfection.***** With this phrase all the four frames are used. With the structural frame, he was telling in advanced what the consequences would be if anybody from the team would missed something. With the human resource frame he was motivating the team to become perfect, as well as to become unique team and to depend on each other, not to be enemies because of ethnicity. Coach Boone was very hard on all the team players despite racial differences; this can be seen as the political frame. Coach Boone had his rules and his rules had to be obeyed or you were out of the team. Symbolically speaking, Coach Boone trained all students that wanted to play football with no exceptions. He motivated all students to become not just part of a team, but to be friends, brothers and to become perfect on the field.
One of the leadership skills used by Boone was the political leadership frame. He became the drill sergeant at the football camp. The boys learn many things, all of them had to do with football, but others had nothing to do with it. For example: Boone forced the boys to get to know each other, to spend "quality" time together. Not caring whether they liked each other, he taught them to respect each other. Boones***** also taught the boys to learn courage and integrity. This is the atmosphere that a true leader that cares for his people. The main character that was cluelessness to some extend was Coach Bill Yoast. He was not open to any ideas or to the idea of working hand in hand with a black coach.
