[EXCERPT] . . . .

Instead this saint set an example of extreme piousness for other brainwashed religious zealots to follow like sheep, for no good reason, for no benefit to humanity or to the individual.

Aside from the vagueness of this sermon there's really nothing practical about the words spoken by Jesus that even allude to timeless values such as outlawing slavery, or supporting the equality of all people, or even the creation of a benevolent government. Instead there's nothing that alludes to anything practical within this speech that could benefit the day-to-day lives of these people. There's also nothing in the speech which even acknowledges the undeniably animal instincts of human beings and seeks to work with such instincts. Sure, there's a moral truth that's being presented, if one wants to spend hours interpreting it, and seeking to find the inherent good, sure that's fine, but the odds of it helping individuals or society as a whole in fostering a viable way of life is unlikely. While some might support the morality that the sermon radiates with, it's merely an idealistic view of the world and of human behavior. It asks humans to live by a code which is going to be impossible for them to follow and which goes against the way humans were wired in their animal instincts. The Sermon on the Mount is both confusing and only helps in supporting moral biases that most people already bring to it.
