[EXCERPT] . . . .

There is no doubt about the fact that some of the main concepts that are not being contributed in the society based on this one theory include altruism, democracy, and collective roles played by the individuals.

Symbolic Interactionism and Healthcare

Human interactions in a more symbolic form have been highlighted by theory of social interactionism. Details and symbols of everyday life have been considered in the theory, how these symbols play important roles in the interaction among the individualism the society is an important aspect of the theory. In case of healthcare, it has been seen that the interactions between doctors and patients has been taken into account on a micro level (Charon, 2009, p. 67).

Applications in healthcare

Social interactionism can help in healthcare but at a micro level. There are certain aspects of relationships and interactions between the patients and the doctors. The interaction that occurs between the patients and the doctors are more based on the needs of the patients and their illnesses. One of the main aims of the doctors is to make sure those patients and their illnesses are considered in a proper manner so that healthcare can be provided to the patients in an efficient manner. These are important aspects of relationships between the patients and the healthcare providers that can prove to be important sources of changes that are required in healthcare.

nteractions have been considered in a more detailed and a symbolic manner. These are the symbols that need to be considered while doctors aim to provide high quality healthcare to the patients. These are also the symbols that can help the doctors and healthcare providers in understanding the main needs of the patients. At the level of a patient, social interactionism exerts a positive effect as the needs and requirements are being understood by the health care providers in a more detailed manner. At the level of a doctor, increased satisfaction is being sent across to the patient by highlighting the fact that the needs are being understood.

Symbolic interactionism affecting the approach to social change within health care

One of the main facts that need to be understood here is that approach that is more positive has been adopted by social interactionism as compared to the other two approaches. There is no doubt about the fact that for a better and more improved healthcare, it is better that the needs of the patients are considered in a more detailed manner. These are the details that can lead to greater and much better social change (Denzin, 2012, p. 35).

How does Symbolic interactionism affect the views of society

As compared to the negative society given to the society by theory of conflict theory, theory of social interactionism sends out the idea that smaller details in the relationships among the individuals are more important. How the situations are dealt by the individuals is more dependent on these relationships and the details of these relationships.

Similarities and differences among functionalism, theory of conflict and Symbolic interactionism

Functionalism and social interactionism have many similarities as compared to the theory of conflict. Much more positivity is spread by both the theory of functionalism and social interactionism. How single units within the societies, the doctor and patient, can collaborate for better social changes is the main concept of functionalism (Charon, 2009, p. 29). Theory of conflict on the other hand is the one that spreads more negativity as compared to functionalism and social interactionism. The power of the policymakers and the lawmakers towards the policymaking in healthcare when only the needs of the richer ones are being considered is one of the main fact that sets functionalism and social interactionism apart.

Conclusion

Three main social theories have been taken into account in the paper. Functionalism suggests that an increased collaboration between the patients and the doctors is one of the main sources of better changes in healthcare. Social interactionism suggests that the details that comprise the relationships of the doctor and patient can help in developing better healthcare policies. Theory of conflict however highlights the roles that are played by the richer ones in policy development.
