The other part that simulation and manikins have proven effective is the simulation based assessment. The students have engaged successfully in the learning for improvement and testing to determine competence using the manikins. The development of technology as rendered the multiple choice tests and the oral exams outdated and effective evaluation has successfully shifted to the use of the manikins, with the complexity of the task dictating the complexity of the manikins to be used.Yet the other effectiveness of the simulation using manikins is the simulation-based research. The researchers have effectively used manikins to undertake researches intro new frontiers that could be dangerous to human beings. Procedures such as for giving dangerous drugs or even in testing advanced resuscitation procedures have been successfully studied using the manikins first. The researcher would then use the computerized multiple simulations of the procedure under research and run them several times to come up with the best optimal solution.
System integration is yet another area where the use of manikin simulation has proven to be successful. Before the researches above are admitted for use in the healthcare systems there is a thorough simulation-based process that it has to undergo in order to facilitate patient safety. They have been used to set standards of performance and also to evaluate organizational processes and the team/individual performance before they are integrated into the main systems.

Manikins are also known to give the learners the freedom to make mistakes as they learn from these mistakes as well. The presence of the manikins hence helps prevent the possible harm to the patient since the experts will be supervising the learners as they apply their knowledge on the manikins and get corrected until they have mastered the art.
The learning skills or experience can also be customized using the manikins to help learners of all ranges, from the novices to the highly skilled to gain significant lessons from the manikins.
The contemporary manikins are also known to give detailed feedback to the learners as the learners will have detailed video-tape recorded debriefings or reviews that help the learners to get to see the mistakes they made and improve on them, based on the feedback data they receive from the computer simulated manikins.
There are however situations where questions have been raised over the accuracy of the replication of the simulation on the real human beings using data recovered from a manikin. There have been questions on the validity of the tool of simulation. Critics have even questioned the usefulness of the various tools of simulation in coming up with real life saving solutions. It is worth noting that, at the end of it all, the practical application comes down to the real human being and not a manikin hence absolute care and due diligence needs to be practices by the individual health care provider in order to give the simulations significant meaning.
