Some researchers suggest that outside learning creates an environment in which students learn at a more rapid rate. Thus incorporating the surrounding outdoor aesthetics into indoor schools could provide a better educational environment for the students. Of all the numerous components traditionally included in the school's physical environment, natural light is among the most important aesthetic variables and it has been shown to be able to influence a person's well-being and performance positively (Tanner, 2013). Therefore, among the other considerations, there are many factors that are related to aesthetics that can also improve a schools environment.On the borderline of "sick" and "healthy" buildings and schools: the concept of sustainability problematized.
Indoor air in our homes, workplaces and schools is a global concern, an issue in policy and science, and part of the World Health Organization's programme on environmental awareness (Sandstedt, 2009). The risks of poor indoor air quality are becoming clearer and the buildings that do not meet a minimum set of standards are known as "sick buildings." The prevalence of sick buildings is hard to estimate however there are likely a significant proportion of existing buildings that fall into this category. The problem of what to do with "sick" buildings can be investigated from a range of different perspectives such as economic, political, scientific, and practical.
There are many potential health consequences that can arise from interactions with sick buildings. During the past few decades, Sweden has also become a country in which many suffer from allergies, asthma and other hyper-sensitivities, not

Design for sustainability: A comparative study of a customized modern method of construction vs. conventional methods of construction.
There is some debate about how to construct new buildings sustainably. Many new buildings are built to sustainable requirements that use existing building methods. These methods primarily are defined by on-site construction techniques. However, using this method and constructing new buildings with higher material standards could suggest that many of the new LEED buildings might not prove as environmentally friendly as they might need to be (Altan & Popovic-Larsen, 2012). Buildings are now larger per student populations and require more resources to fulfill these space requirements.
Although space in an educational setting can be a critical factor in the quality of education, the use of more resources to build them can be environmentally detrimental. One research article has suggested that there are other alternatives to the traditional on-site method of construction that would help the process be considerably more efficient. The research investigates an offsite construction method offering customization against its conventional counterpart in a fairly controlled context and found that result shows that despite the higher standards required by law, which in return increases the environmental impacts, the new school building is performing significantly better with a slightly lower environmental impact compared to the old building (Altan & Popovic-Larsen, 2012).
