NursingChanging Health Care
The purpose of this paper is to introduce and analyze the topic of health care in the United States. Specifically, it will discuss influences such as an aging population, technological, and the advent of managed care. These changes impact the role of the nurse in many ways. Health care is changing in America, and it will change even more drastically as the population continues to age and live longer. The future of health care is an exciting concept that will certainly blossom and grow in the coming years.
This is an exciting time to enter the nursing profession, because there is so much room for future growth and discovery. The health care environment is changing, and changing quite rapidly. Many people equate this change to the aging baby-boomer generation, which will bring many, many challenges to the health care profession in the coming years. However, I think that it really is a complex and compelling future, based on many factors, not just an aging society. For example, a recent study found that Americans are living longer than ever, even with the obesity epidemic that is becoming so pervasive in society. I believe that research, new developments, and new cures for ailments like cancer and heart disease are on the horizon, and these will play a gigantic role in the changing health care environment. I believe people will live even longer, with less disease and illness in the future, and that health care will expand and grow as this occurs. I also believe that research and development of drugs and treatments will open up new fields in health care, such as nursing and patient care of more people being treated successfully

A also believe there will be more opportunities in nursing and other health care related fields, as people live longer and require more care as they age. A entered the nursing profession because I have a great desire to help people and aid them when they are ill. I think I am a compassionate person, and that I want to enjoy a career that is care and service based, and where I feel I can make a difference in people's lives. I think nursing is one of the noblest professions, and that nurses can truly make a patient's hospital or clinic stay more fulfilling and meaningful. It is the nurse that is the communicator between patient and doctor, and I believe that role is extremely vital in the health care profession. Sometimes, doctors look down on nurses and treat them as second-class citizens, but it is really the nurse that is the liaison between the layers of the hospital staff, and it is vital that the nurse is not only a good communicator, but a good observer and listener, as well. They are the first in line to know and understand a patient's needs and desires, and if they are good at their profession, they can communicate these needs to the other members of the hospital staff.
I believe I am a good communicator and am empathetic, and so I will be a good link between the patient and the doctor. I also believe that a good nurse can make a person's hospital stay a little less frightening and depressing, and that is vital to help the patient recover effectively. The nurse has another key role in that area, and that is liaison to the patient's family, as well. A good nurse understands the fears and distress of the family and is gentle when he or she deals with family members. This is another important role, and one that doctors often leave to nurses, so it is an important function of the nursing staff. I have always wanted to be a nurse because I am interested in the health care profession, I think nursing is a solid and caring career, and there will be many differing roles for nurses in the future. I think the future of… READ MORE
