[EXCERPT] . . . .
These implications are that the power situation within this country, which is largely mirrored around the world, did not happen by accident and is instead perpetuated by design. Americans also need to realize that the situation in which there is an elite governing force (which can come from and protect the interests of private industrialists and wealthy businessmen) supported by the backbreaking labor of a lower class, what the authors of this work refer to as the new social class is the norm throughout the vast majority of the world's territory and population. The U.S. was once special in that the distinction between the wealthy and the poor was less pronounced -- a fact which greedy multinational investors have diligently attempted to eradicate. Most of all, Americans must become cognizant of the ideological aspect of the new class society, in which there are numerous mechanisms and institutions such as the media and the means of education and what is taught in classrooms, that are created to reinforce the new class society. People in this country must realize that they are constantly lied to and mislead from the truth, so that what is right and good seems wrong, and that what is wrong and harmful appears good for them. Seeing through this hazy intoxication is the first step towards to possibly changing the new class society.
