[EXCERPT] . . . .
This is undertaken to ensure that the company does not face any civil court cases for failure of providing benefits. Walmart Corporation and Proctor & Gamble demand a waiting period of half a year before they can consider a new spouse or partner to be eligible to any company benefits (Bell, 2012).What factors, such as legislation, may influence the inclusion of these stipulations?
There are pieces of legislation and fresh laws enacted that may influence the annexation of the aforementioned stipulations. One of the laws encompasses the regulation of polygamy within the country. This legislation sanctions that an individual or worker for that matter is allowed to have more than one spouse or partner. As a result, these stipulations would for a fact influence the stipulations discussed beforehand. This is because both companies would have to take into account the entitlement of different partners and spouses together with their dependents, with regard to the benefits warranted (Bell, 2012).
Use the following terms in your discussion and include appropriate examples for each one:
1. Glass walls
Glass walls can be defined as social forces that are linked to work, which hinder or obscure women from being able to achieve the top-most or ultimate levels within the corporate ladder and also with regard to public roles (Smith et al., 2012).

3. Glass escalator
This is a terminology that is similarly used with reference to gender stratification to characterize work-related social forces, which drive on the male personnel up on the job or corporate ladder and boost them to greater top-level job positions, predominantly in professions that are dominated by women (Smith et. al, 2012).
Can any of the terms you defined above be applied to either company based on other information you learned about them? Why, or why not?
Yes, there are. Walmart Corporation, in recent years, has faced the challenge of being considered discriminatory to female workers. In accordance to Reed (2013), Walmart hired over 800,000 women, which signifies more than 55% of its United States labor force. However, the company has a past account of bigoted treatment of these female personnel. This is because they are every so often poorly paid, underrepresented and handed minimal opportunities for advancement in the corporate ladder. Despite the fact that women constitute a majority of Walmart personnel, majority of them work in lowly-paid positions and very few are in management positions. Statistics indicate that in the year 2001, female personnel earned a yearly salary of $5,200 less compared to the male personnel (Reed, 2013).
