Kathleen got referred to the Palliative Care Community Team for symptom management and supportive care and following the therapy course, she encounters several other new symptoms. By the conclusion of the third week, the symptoms either improve or resolve and the general levels of distress of Ann and Kathleen reduce. Kathleen's performance and functioning has, however, dropped and it is expected that this particular trend shall carry on and other new symptoms shall be encountered in future. Kathleen stays under the care of palliative care team for constant evaluation and management (Deitrick et al., 2011; Hui et al., 2010).

Summary

In the present era of treatment, palliative care is simply a specialty which might be implemented in the practice of COPD in medicine. Difficulties experienced by health practitioners and patients, like aging, difficult decision making for acutely ill patients having COPD, and taking care of patients with COPD infection might actually be assisted by a palliative care approach. These cases are meant to trigger debates between palliative care and COPD practitioners, regarding possible regions of clinical and research association. For the patients suffering from COPD, palliative care can be described as specialized treatment that is intended for the treatment of pain, symptoms, together with emotional strain. Such care is available for patients at the start of diagnosis up to the very end. The perfect fundamental palliative care is to help patients and their families in actually getting to live the best life possible as the sickness develops. An IDT of doctors, nurses, and social workers are specially taught in their particular disciplines so as to help COPD patients. The team collaborates with a pulmonologist to manage care with everyone involved with the aim of making sure that the condition is well managed.
