Therefore, the meta-dramatic responsibility is huge, since, for the actor, playwright, and director, the world literally becomes a stage. Quixote has two paradoxically stable supports in his enterprise -- his squire's allegiance and the libros de caballerias memory. While, as one of the final romances of heroism, the book maintains the model's linear pattern, its meta-literary focus is so evident that satire assumes an entirely novel dimension (Friedman, 2005).

Conclusion

Quixote's key conflict in the story's former part is the commencement of his journey with Panza, towards chivalric adventures during a time when the world was no longer dominated by the values of chivalry. Perez, the priest, endeavors to get his friend to return home and get over his madness. The chief conflict in the latter part emerges when Quixote resumes his adventures and Perez and Sampson Carrasco unite to get him home by subduing him (Sparknotes, 2003).

Quixote is only home for a short time before he contracts a deathly fever, and death is his only prescription, which he greets with due reverence and grace. Cervantes' crazed character, Alonso finally regains his saneness, renouncing his zeal for heroic adventure books and asserting that his bizarre journeys were all a huge waste of his time. The final lines of the book clarify Alonso's death and burial, thus informing readers that the tale will not have a sequel (Shmoop Editorial Team).

Evaluation

er, Cervantes himself may be considered to become a character within the tale, stepping in occasionally. Its reference to Cervantes throughout the narrative ensures the reader does not forget that the book is purely fictional (Gurgen, 2010), and enjoy it as such. It teaches one that one's perception is of the utmost import. The world will be how one chooses to view it. This is what I personally learnt when reading about Quixote's choice to perceive himself as a "righter of wrongs," a knight, a person ready to "fight the good fight." A second lesson I inferred: one can view situations in a way that alters their result or the course of one's life. Quixote shows readers that there will, definitely, be good for those who elect to see the better side in the world (Stokes, 2012).

The author's reference frame was his very own society's popular madness (Shuger, 2012, 3). The intent of the author was to expose the unnecessary virtue attached to chivalry by depicting the fate of an individual so ridiculously obsessed with it that, just like his books' knight errants, he starts out to lead life according to knightly codes and beliefs. I am in agreement with Quixote, when it comes to society's pull towards chivalry. The book's success confirms this fact, as the author very nearly destroyed Spain's obsessive romanticism with chivalry (Danziger, 2003).
