[EXCERPT] . . . .
(To demand) How come that is? (To inform) My brother- I've got a brother with a real short fuse. He gets weird ideas in his head. It doesn't take much to tip him over the edge. (To complain) Now I've been here way too long. (To explain) Way, way past the time I was supposed to get back. (To speculate) And he's gonna' start gettin' the wrong idea about me and your daughter. (To emphasize) I mean, your daughter is his wife. (To challenge) You know that, don't ya? (To complain) I mean I suppose you know that but it's hard to tell anymore if anybody knows anything about anybody else around here. (To clarify) Like her, for instance. (To hint) Your daughter. she is getting very strange with me. Very strange. (To guide) I mean she started talkin' to me like I was him. (To clarify) Like I was my brother. To her, I mean. Quoted Instructions for "Lie of the Mind" Assignment:
I ordered 2 weeks ago 11 pages about "Frankie's monologue" from the play "A Lie of The Mind" written by Sam Shepard and I lost 50% of my mark cuz the ***** didn't stick with the time and didn't do all parts that i asked him to do so this time it should be much better. I am supposed to do 3 parts.
*1st part:* What is the over all objective of the character in the scene?( what do I want from the other actor(s).
*2nd part:* Answer these 3 questions: 1-whats the character literally doing? 2-whats the essential action of the character? 3-whats the action like to me?(This process is called substitution).
*3rd and final part:* re type your monologue and in consideration of what your over all objective is, insert the verbs your feel are appropriate for each line to help you win that objective.
Finally, I'm gonna attache 3 files to the ***** to make this task easier which are:
1- the essay format and outline. 2- a full example for answering another monologue(so I need the same). 3-verbs list that the ***** should use for part 3.
The last thing is using easy vocab cuz I'm an international student
**This is the monologue**: Look- I don't know why it is but nobody around here will make any effort to try and get me outa' here. How come that is? My brother- I've got a brother with a real short fuse. He gets weird ideas in his head. It doesn't take much to tip him over the edge. Now I've been here way too long. Way, way past the time I was supposed to get back. And he's gonna' start gettin' the wrong idea about me and your daughter. I mean, your daughter is his wife. You know that, don't ya? I mean I suppose you know that but it's hard to tell anymore if anybody knows anything about anybody else around here. Like her, for instance. Your daughter. she is getting very strange with me. Very strange. I mean she started talkin' to me like I was him. Like I was my brother. To her, I mean. Like she thought I was him and not me. Your daughter. Beth. I mean I don't even know id she knows who I am anymore but- she thinks-she thinks her brother- your son and you, in fact- even you- she includes you in this too- She thinks you and him, your son and you, are somehow responsible for taking her brain out. For removing her brain. Did you know about all this?
Best, Abdullah
