legislative move which was proposed to 'outlaw private health insurance in America' (Ronald, 2006). In the proposal it was advised to establish America Health Insurance Agency, which could be regarded as the single payer system launched and sponsored by the state government for financing the health care of all Americans. The legislation is aimed at the abolishment of the private health insurance. The essence of the proposal is based on the adoption of the Canadian healthcare system, which encourage the system of socialized medicine (AMA, 2007).

Alternatives to the American Healthcare System

The health care system of the America is being improved into 'a publicly administered finance system' (Ronald, 2006), thus the America Health Insurance Agency is liable to finance towards all the health related claims. Such a proposal is expected to provide relief to more than twenty percent of the American population, who are unregistered to any of the health insurance company. The major concerns which the critics have reflected is with reference to the failure of the public-based health insurance company in Canada, soon after the private health insurance agencies were declared illegal, and the public health insurance agency was entitled to look after the medical and health care system of the country, the Canadians expressed their displeasure towards public funded agency, and complained against the efficiency and effectiveness of their services. Previously, when such a proposal was referred to the governor of the American state, it was vetoed. The critics have associated the lack of political will with the expected failure of the state sponsored health care insurance system. It is expecte

d that the implementation of such legislation will not only create an enormous, inefficient government bureaucracy, but will also be responsible for generating administrative chaos (Ronald, 2006). The critics do consider the current medical insurance system as unsustainable, but have warned that the implementation of single-payer system will adversely affect the performance of the medical innovation through reduction in the incentives and schemes promoted and sponsored by the private sector (Allan, 2005).

The existence and the possibility of the 'well-being' have to be precisely and accurately explained and justified. The merit of the distinction between the discussed domains has been the relevant element associated with each group i.e. 'various domains call for somewhat different intervention strategies' (Suad, 2003). The relational and collective domains ought to be ignored if the 'locus of attention is exclusively the individual'; the relational and collective domains are responsible for the impingement of the 'very well-being of the person we wish to assist' (Suad, 2003). The public health has reviewed and analyzed the approach, and has termed as eco-epidemiology. The concrete evidences have floated and emerged which have suggested that 'the well-being of relationships, where there is caring, compassion, and formal and informal supports has beneficial effects on persons' (Jonathan, 2005). The community which is the reflection of the well-being is the embodiment of the characteristics i.e. affordable housing, clean air, accessible transportation, and high quality healthcare and education facilities. Such facilities cum factors exist in the 'physical space of communities' (Tessa, 1999), and the relationships are interfaces where the exchange of the psychological resources i.e. affection, caring, nurturance, and material goods in the form of money, physical assistance take place. The human entity is considered to be the avenue 'where feelings, cognitions, and phenomenological experiences of well-being reside' (Jonathan, 2005).

Successful Alternatives

The critics and the public health analysts are of the view that the conversion to the single-health payer system is aimed at the rectification of the flaws in the current American health care system. The… READ MORE
