I have completed the first part, which is to have a real sense of where I want to go and what I need to do to get there.

I feel that I score well on many of the nine dimensions of leadership, but there are three that strongly depend on interpersonal communication -- engaging the team, holding to account, and developing capability (NHS, 2014) - so the big focus at this point will be on improving on those building blocks, and I feel that my leadership development plan will help with that. I know that my plan will benefit from increased specificity but otherwise it is a good starting point for understanding where my abilities are today, and what skills I need to build for the future.

Further, I have a participative style and want to get all the best ideas on the table. Just because I have trouble forging great bonds with my coworkers doesn't mean I am not focused on their ideas. I want all the best ideas. I really look at my strengths as something on which I can build for the future. Many of the traits that I see as strengths will help me to better myself, and really be proactive in terms of my leadership development.

This first section of the paper is worth just 15 points. It should be no more than one page, so you will need to present your assessment results succinctly (in one paragraph).

Section 2: Leadership Development Plan – 2.5 Pages*** Short-term leadership goals should focus on your first year after graduation, that is, your first year in an Advanced Nurse Practitioner role.. Long-term leadership goals should focus on where you expect to be 2-5 years after graduation.

2.a For each of the 3 priority domains you identified above (Section 1.b), identify at least one short- term and one long-range goal, as they relate to future development in your Advanced Nurse Practitioner role. -Use SMART terms (specific, measurable, applicable, realistic and a time period) when describing your development goals. -For each goal, list at least one specific action step you will take to reach that goal, with a completion date for that step.

2.b Identify specific resources available to you to help you meet your goals. Also, identify any potential obstacles to goal achievement.

Section 3: Strengths and Leadership -1.5 page

3.1 Discuss how your strengths, temperament, and leadership style discussed in Part 1 of your Leadership Portfolio can help you reach your leadership development goals.

Strengths: Five strengths are: (1) Achiever; (2) Competition; (3) Analytical; (4) Ideation; and (5) Focus. Temperament: My temperament is that of a Guardian. Leadership Style: Probably mixed between the difference of management and leadership Moderately participative” indicating that I am an independent worker and that I do not require close supervision, but rather only some type of feedback. My organization supports, encourages and even expects leadership among its members.
