Topic: Women’s ability to control their own bodies – to exercise reproductive and/or sexual choices free from stigma and danger – is profoundly influenced by institutions and ideologies that often reflect hierarchies of domination and subordination. These hierarchies relate to beliefs about gender, race, class, sexuality, health status, and so on. Focus on a particular topic relating to women’s bodily integrity and discuss the social structures and beliefs that influence women’s choices (historically and today). Also discuss how feminists have worked to expand choices and to increase women’s personal and collective agency.
