I would imagine that most White customers would feel a sense of guilt in this situation. Some might even point out the fact that the Black customer arrived first. Others could even complain about the prejudiced treatment. I have witnessed a few similar situations and they have all been fairly awkward.

At a local fast food place I witnessed there seemed to be an appropriate level of diversity appreciation in the presence of different races. Everyone one seemed fairly professional and polite. However, this store seemed to deal with a diverse crowd on a regular basis.

2. Retailers should always have bilingual employees that understand the Hispanic culture whenever possible. They should also regularly ask their advice and opinions about how to best suit this demographic.
3. I would discipline the worker at Conoco and was well as make it an example for other employees. I would also introduce discrimination training and educate the employees on how catering to everyone is more profitable for the business.
4. Bilingual workers could be paid a bonus for their additional skills and this could also provide training assistance to employees that wished to become bilingual.

6. Discrimination among law enforcement agencies is a difficult culture to attempt to increase diversity within. However, diversity training and presenting the facts about actual crime rates among different races could help a cultural transition in these organizations. The public should definitely hold the providers of public services such as policing accountable for the employees at all times. They can speak with their elected representatives on a regular basis and demand accountability.
2. Execute Exercise 7 on page 185.
7. Organizations are definitely more likely to hire White individuals with criminal records compared to individuals from other races. Furthermore, the ability for Whites to gain adjudication also strengthens the discrimination found within the system. The criminal law system definitely places a higher burden on minorities which diminishes their earning potential on the aggregate.

1. The ironies in the racism within war are astounding. It also represents the power of in-group and out-group type thinking. One the one hand African-American were a vital asset in WWII, on the other hand they were treated with less respect than the enemy on racial grounds in regards to drinking water. This illustrates how deep prejudices can go within the human psyche.
2. Yes, I knew about the internment camps but only after reading some progressive literature when I was older. These are generally left out of history books in schools and an individual will have to commonly self-study to find examples of negative instances of poor decisions in U.S. history.
3. Being perceived as the model minority often simply perpetrates the same stereotypes that organizations should try to break. Although there are some cultural differences in Asian-Americans, they are basically the same as any other person and should not be viewed in a discriminatory light even if it happens to be positive.
4. I would have personally guessed that the average earnings, education, and wealth among Asian-Americans would be slightly higher than average. However, there doesn't appear to be any statistical difference in this population.
5. I have a friend from China. Their family immigrated a couple generations ago and my friend is seemingly purely American. However, they do have some appreciation and knowledge of their heritage that is interesting.
