[EXCERPT] . . . .

It is a summary of the subsequent parody and encapsulates the plot in a whimsical, light-hearted way.

The drama may also have the obsessive and wacky tinge that it has -- both anime and drama -- in order to attract and addict the viewer, to keep him or her obsessively following the plot and throwing him from heavy moment to light moment where he is tossed from drama to anime and back again. As shown, the genres of both are multiple from romance to gourmet and everything in between. Much of this centers around an adolescent audience, as noted, possibly because the adolescent audience is a key viewer of this medium. Scenes, therefore, incorporate school themes since it is schoolchildren largely who watch the plots. The scenes are also larger than life in order to keep the viewer hooked since viewer's attentions are apt to run away. We see this epitomized, for instance, by the by who goes into the overly cluttered room of the girl and throws her possessions around. The girl gets angry, and the boy persists. The movie also uses typical adolescent themes with, for instance, the boy attempting to wade his way through an overly messy room, the girls' mouth being gagged against the smell of the room -- the whole is dramatized in a way that amalgamates both drama and comedy in order to reflect the teenage existence.

Both anime and drama are mini plots that have all the concepts of mini plots with a beginning, middle, and end. The drama particularly starts off in a totally reverse way to the way it ends with, for instance, the boy entering the room at the last saga. A tentative entrance culminates in a total upheaval of the room with both boy and girl gagging their mouths against the s

mell and aggregation of years of neglect, and with boy mockingly smiting girl on the shoulder with a samurai plastic sword at the end. The whole is comical all the way through with the boy finding moldy food, dirty clothes that have grown mushrooms, and similar garb and articles that have become transformed due to the girl neglecting her room. The whole is a scene that is familiar to teens and is presented in a comical way.

The drama spans various moods from serious to comic. The anime, on the other hand, is more difficult to place. It is less serious -- perhaps deliberate so, since it is formulated in a cartoon manner.

Anime has the same dramatized, larger than life appearance with the distinction that music and laughter (or rather chuckles) play a far greater part in it than it does in drama. The anime is more cheerful and happier. Both the drama and the anmie are exaggerated as seen with the incident of the piano player. In the dramatic part, the scene ends by the girl opening her lunch, yelling 'Nadame' and tottering off, legs sprawled, presumably to the bathroom. Her actions and gestures are exaggerated. The drama, by the way, is a copy of the anima, but they seem almost two different plots. The drama is not only lengthier but also more real to the adolescent experience with the girls teasing the boy in the contemporary style of adolescents and calling him 'teacher's pet' as school girls may do. The anime, on the other hand, had none of that and seemed more general. Similarly, the boy in the drama snubs the music and the music players. This does not occur in the anime scene.

The anime also has more sound animation with seductive voices as background. They sound the perfect medium for advertisements, and may perhaps be intended as such. The short anime of the messy room encapsulates the theme in a swallowed up constricted manner getting right to the point and presenting it in an entertaining way accompanied by plenty of soundtracks. The corresponding drama stretches it out in a deliberately slow way building up its effect so that it crescendos into surprise and leads us to one hilarious discovery after the other.

Both anime and drama share the commonality of entertainment and amuse us. The main differences, however, are that whilst the drama is more real to life, particularly to the adolescent's existence (and this is as it is meant to be), the anime presents a preview of the drama and may be intended as advertisement or as summary.
