However, since it is being controlled properly, it would be a positive risk. If there is something of these natures being changed, Human Resources needs to know so that the proper paperwork and vetting can be done. It is a positive risk, if done correctly (SHRM, 2016).Lack of Verification: Just as some employees do not do the proper updates as they should, they are sometimes sloppy. As such, the portal to update information should have safeguards against entering of incomplete or incorrect information. Things like address verification, requiring the keying of important information twice (and with not being able to see the first number keyed on the screen) and other things like that should be part of the website. The fields and information that should be included in this, either when information is originally keyed or when it is being changed, would include name, ABA number, bank account number and street address. When it comes to the last of those, it needs to be required that a valid USPS address be keyed. Sites like UPS and other sites that rely heavily on address have these systems and any good human resources site should have it. ABA or account numbers being wrong leads to direct deposits not occurring (or maybe going to the wrong person), wrong names lead to IRS rejections and wrong addresses lead to lost physical W-2's. Failing to do the above (or do it completely) is an obvious negative risk (Workforce, 2002).
Paperless Setup: The last sentence in the prior section leads to something else that should be part of a good portal. Rather than having everything in hard copy, a good HR portal will have things be paperless. This could and should include W-4's, W-2's, I-9's an

Conclusion
In general, a human resources portal like was described for this assignment is a good to great thing. However, employees need to be empowered and informed on how to properly use the site and the site's design needs to be done properly so that mistakes and problems do not fall through the cracks. Going to a self-service and paperless setup is the wave of the future.
