11. A good business case provides the value, costs, and margins that are planned for the project proposed. The Digital Lions have assigned you the engagement to prepare a business case for an important client.

The client is considering a project to implement online B2C ecommerce using the Internet. This would offer their customers direct access to their products without going through another company, and it would provide their products at lower prices. At this time, the client has no Internet presence, nor do they have the hardware, software, processes, or people to build, maintain, and operate this new online service. They have the products and the data on those products; however, they would need to invest to make this move. The client expects that this new system would integrate with their current order/entry system which will need enhancements.

Prepare a draft of the business case for such a project. You should make-up any quantitative values that you require to show the areas of gain and expense in the case. However, your business case must contain a solid analysis of the proposal, and it must show that the project will improve or degrade the client*****s margins. Your case will be evaluated on its merits as a professional and well-made business case. Your conclusion and your figures will not be considered in the evaluation.
