This is evident with their Quilibria Quality management Solution offering (GE,2012b).They also engage in quality control workshops on various aspects of healthcare such as mammography (GE,2012c).Phillips Healthcare on the other hand has a firm grip over its quality control issues. This is despite being warned by the FDA over its imaging center at Cleveland (MedCity News,2011).The company ahs continued to invest in bleeding edge healthcare quality control technology and innovations aimed at raising the standards of quality of care. Investment, Low protectionism and globally translatable technology are their global growth drivers (GE,2012d).GE Health for instance has an elaborate innovative strategy that informed by the various trends shaping the business landscape (Hellweg,2007).

Possibility of a partnership?

The possibility of a merger between GE and Phillips is minimal at the moment due to the fact that they are the leading companies in their areas of operations. Their operations in the same industry mean that there is minimal operational synergy to be gained from any merger or acquisitions. The competition and merger policies are also likely to bar the two from merging into one big corporation.

Conclusion

GE and Phillips have continued to dominate the global healthcare industry with their quality and innovative products. This has been coupled with their recession resistant corporate strategies that aim to put them in the first place in the global and U.S. healthcare industry.
