on for Pre-Tax Operating profits within the first quarter of 2012. Comparing the first quarter of 2012 to the first quarter of 2011, the company recorded a decline of $544 in the operating profit in the first quarter of 2012 because the company recorded Pre-tax operating profit of $2.8 billion in the first quarter of 2011. However, the company recorded a pre-tax profit of $2.3 billion within the 2012 first quarter. Despite the decline in the operating profit between first quarter of 2011 and the first quarter 2012, the company remains focused and is committed to implement aggressive structuring. (Ford, 2012). By the end of the 2012 fiscal year, Ford expects its net profits of the 2012 fiscal year to be higher than the net profit of the 2011 fiscal year. Based on the commitment of the Ford to achieve growth rate within the 2012 fiscal year, the report projects the profits for the next four quarters in Table 1.

As being revealed in Table 1, the report forecasts that Ford will record $8.9 Billion for the Pre-operating profits in the next four quarters, and $6.2 billion for the next four quarter for the after-tax operating profits. To arrive at these results, the report assumes that there will be a decline in the U.S. recession as well as modest improvement in the economy. The report projects profits for the next four quarters based on the data provided by the Bureau of Financial Analysis (2012). Overview of 2012 first quarter of the U.S. economy reveals that the United States records the increase in the annual growth rate of 1.9%. Typically, the Bureau of Economic Analysis projects that there would be an increase of 3% in the real GDP (Gross Domestic Product) within the fourth quarter of 2012. Since GDP is used to measure the economic activity, the report projects that the U.S. economy will record a decline in the recession within the next fourth quarter.
