According to Manghani, (2011), health care organizations need to continue to advance operating performance to manage the obstructing impact of further drops in reimbursement and the increasing review of patient satisfaction and outcomes. The best practices that can be embraced by organizations include the adoption of appropriate governance mechanisms. Centralization of key operations such as procurement and purchasing, revenue cycle operations and clinical care protocols is essential for the apt utilization of technology and alignment of processes.

Best practices can also be employed by improving coding compliance. In fact, the onset of the ICD-10 transition in 2014 will serve to increase an organization's risk of inaccurate claims. Standardization of operations also serves to eliminate redundant variations within the organization. Standardization also serves to remove inefficiencies as well as reduce the cost of health care within an organization. This may also entail developing streamlined processes for the nursing staff so that they can spend good time serving the patients (Manghani, 2011).

To ensure the implementation of best clinical and business best practice throughout the organization, I would involve all employees and stakeholders within the organization. The success of a new strategy requires the cooperation of all employees towards its success. As such, all nurses, physicians and nursing administrators should be involved in the process.

Personal reflection

I believe the process of benchmarking is essential in formulating a standard of quality and comparing a business activity or function. This process is increasingly being used by health care organizations to lower expenses as well as improve service and product quality. Benchmarking is a continuous process through which an organization can measure and compare its own practices with other organization in the same sector.

According to Kay (2007), embracing best practices is essential for organizational success. However, a poorly implemented benchmarking exercise results in the wastage of human and financial resources. Benchmarking requires the commitment of senior management. Embracing best practices also ensure that the staff are guided and trained so that maximum benefits can be realized. Professionals in the health care sector are expected to provide quality care whilst ensuring that equality is enhanced. Best practices also go a long way in promoting the quality of care, which in turn trickles down to patient safety while lowering the cost of health care. Best practices such as new methods of evaluating patient responses to medical interventions.

Clinical practice benchmarking entails sharing best practices in clinical aspects of health care. It entails the provision of quality assessment that supports the development of quality care. Houser and Oman (2011) evidence-based practice entail the application of the best scientific evidence, incorporating patient preferences and values and integrating clinical experience in the practice of expert patient care.

In conclusion, embracing best practices is a valuable method for quickly lifting organization performance. Modern-day health service is being encouraged to ensure uniform provision of quality health care. Ensuring the implementation of best practices entails adopting only the best and successful aspects or processes of an organization. As such, I would involve all employees in the organization such as nurse administrators, physicians, and nurses in embracing these practices.
