You are a world-renowned art historian and author with the ability to time travel to any period of history. For your new book, you travel to three periods of your choice to gain a firsthand account of the culture and arts of that time. Your book is a collection of your an*****s of artworks based on your firsthand experience in those periods and cultures. While you are time traveling, you select one work of art from each period to analyze in your new book.

Write a 1200-word paper that represents three chapters from your new book. The periods I have chosen are the Egyptians Civilizations, Classical Greek or Hellenistic Civilizations, and the Italian Renaissance. Each chapter will contain an analysis from the period you selected. Remember to write in the first person perspective of an art historian who has experienced the periods firsthand. The Renaissance was a period that deals with the rebirth of arts. “The transitional movement in Europe between medieval and modern times beginning in the 14th century in Italy, lasting into the 17th century, and marked by a humanistic revival of classical influence expressed in a flowering of the arts and literature and by the beginnings of modern science; the period of the Renaissance; the neoclassic style of architecture prevailing during the Renaissance. A movement or period of vigorous artistic and intellectual activity.” (Renaissance, 2010) The Italian and European Renaissance had exceptional impact on the humanistic of a Greek philosopher named Plato. The father of humanism was scholar Petrach. The center of attention and interests was the individual itself and the wish to understand the nature after the middle Ages.



As we journey to see examine some of the Italian Renaissance art pieces. Here is one of Leonard da Vinci famous master pieces The Last Supper. I just love how Leonard da Vinci truly bought the painting the Last Supper to life. I love how incorporate the bible. When Jesus was sitting quietly as the disciple rise to the shocked of what Jesus had said. Leonard da Vinci related that moment to say; Verily I say unto that one of you shall betray me…(Matthew 26:21). I loved this painting because it deals with religion. I love to admire and look at religious painting. This painting was done on a canvas with oil paints. The use of line and form in this painting guides individuals eyes directly to the center of the piece, which happens to be Jesus Christ, making this a closed composition with a linear perspective. In the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, the design elements that I recognize are Jesus sitting at the table along with 12 disciples and the coat of arms. The coat of arms could influence an individual life. This painting portrays the last meal Jesus had before he died. That night Jesus would tell the disciples that later one of them would betray him. Jesus' honesty and forwardness shocked the disciples, and in turn they all began to question themselves. In Leonard da Vinci's, artwork one can see that Jesus has just delivered this message and that the disciples are taken by surprised.

In my opinion this painting had a great deal of history. The most useful element of design for an artist is that they have to decide which materials to use. Leonardo da Vinci makes the viewer see exactly what he wants them to see. Jesus was the main figures in the painting and he was center in front of three windows that is located in the back of the room. The colors of the twelve disciple’s robes were distributed all through the painting with a tremendous amount of colors. From one side of the Lord Jesus to the other the colors go from light primary tones to dark blends. Most painting can have or provided a tremendous amount of history in their unique way.
