The main contentions, for the girls, appear only in case of baseball. Even though Title IX allows and makes it possible for girls to try out the boys' sports, owing to the lack of a future avenue for girls' complement, baseball and softball are projected as similar games. Therefore, when girls outgrow the Little League they are forced to play softball. This ought not to be the case and amendments should be made to Title IX (Stevens, 157).According to (Mowrey, 156), it is important to ensure that there is watch over any occurrences of gender discrimination in children and youth baseball. For instance, there is great need for upholding a blind draft system in the Little League. This system is purposed on preventing any kind of discrimination centered on race, gender, or any unsuitable and unfitting aspect. There is no sport set in stone for a specific gender or sexual category. Girls have the same capability and potential as boys and therefore ought to be allowed to play baseball. More so, if girls have been allowed to play physically demanding sports such as basketball, rugby and soccer and have exceedingly thrived in them, then there ought not to be an argument made against girls to play baseball (Epstein, 106).
Conclusion
To summarize, as literature has shown, girls ought to be included in playing baseball as opposed to softball. This is because girls have the physical capacity to match their male counterparts. As shown, girls of the ages 8-12 usually mature at a faster rate compared to boys and therefore are much bigger and are capable of playing against and alongside them.
