Thus, when compared with the traditional social cognitive theories, Mischel's social learning theory specially emphasizes on individual differences highlighting the fact the values and expectancies of an individual are important in order to predict his/her behavior and personality. According to the exceptional psychologist, five person variables put in to the conditions of a particular situation. These variables allow us to predict the reaction of an individual in a given situation.

1. Competencies refer to the logical competence and social skills. It is, if truth be told, "the ability to produce a variety of different cognitive and behavioral responses in a given situation or class of situations" (Knowles & McLean, 1992).

2. Cognitive Strategies are the unusual opinions about a particular event. For example, a given situation can be "frightening" for an individual and may be "challenging" to the other (Hettema, 1979).

3. Expectancies denote the anticipated outcomes of dissimilar behaviors that an individual realizes inside his/her mind (Hettema, 1979).

4. Subjective Values refer to the relevant significance of every probable outcome of a range of behaviors (Hettema, 1979).

5. Self-regulatory systems refer to the collection of set of laws and principles that people become accustomed to for normalizing their behavior (Hettema, 1979).
