Quoted Instructions for "Capital Budget in Recreation" Assignment:
Using recent periodicals, identify a capital budgeting decision that a leisure or recreation organization is facing. The agency does not have to reside in Las Vegas. It can reside anywhere. You can take a look at a hometown newspaper to see what capital expenditures are pending. Use the articles and other resources to develop a narrative that follows the four-step planning process for capital budgeting suggested by Brayley & McLean. The four step planning process involves inventory of capital assets, needs analysis, cost analysis, and financing. The write-up should provide an overview of the key issues and demonstrate an understanding of the capital budgeting decision process. Remember, public agencies are much more likely to share capital budgeting plans. Pay particular attention to describing the project, the source of funding, and annual operating costs.
The writing assignment must contain the following elements: a title page, your paper, a reference section, and internal citations. The title page is self explanatory. However, I recommend following APA format guidelines; please keep it simple by not including pictures. The formatting of the paper should be 10 to 12-point font, double spaced, 1 inch margins, left justification, and page numbers. Your discussion should be no longer than 5 pages. If necessary, supporting material such as images, diagrams, or figures should be included in an appendix and mentioned in the paper. Do not include these materials in the body of the paper. The title page, references, and support material do not count toward the 5 page maximum. The reference section is critical to the assignment. This section should identify the source of material discussed in the article. In addition, the paper should cite the references within the document. APA provides a number of alternatives for citing references within a document. Again, I suggest following APA reference and citation styles.
