However, raising minimum wages might compel companies to look at other options. Fast food companies are looking at using kiosks to allow customers to enter their own orders, for example. This system has been in use in Japan for years, but is just being introduced in North America, as a means of reducing the number of jobs and increasing productivity. Such innovations may have occurred anyway, but ultimately minimum wage increases might provide the incentive for companies to re-evaluate their business model, in the event that minimum wage increase are so substantial as to render the old business model entirely unprofitable.Part 3.
