[EXCERPT] . . . .

The writer provides information as to the benefits and disadvantages of the three models. In each model, the writer provides his own conclusions based on their understanding. Disposing wealth after death seems like a noble thing, but the writer demonstrates that the possessor was not so keen on disposing it in such a manner. It would be best if the possessor would have disposed of the wealth while they were still alive. Giving to charities is noble, but it is only noble when they are still alive. The law taxes heavily any wealth that a person leaves behind. This way the government has the opportunity to take a larger portion of the money for the development and improvement of society.

Argument for causation and liability

In the first reading, the piece demonstrates that any negligence that leads to injury should be compensated. A person who causes injury to them self would not demand for compensation from another party Robert Lussier & Herbert Sherman, 2009.

This is because the other party was not liable for the injury. In case, an individual's negligence results in the injury of a person, the person injured needs to be compensated for the injury by the person who caused the injury. The compensation would cover for the damages incurred by the injury. This is the just and fair way in any society. The failure to compensate the injured would result in a negligent society that does not care for the welfare of others. People would be causing injury to each other without care as they would not be lawfully accountable for their actions. Associating causal effect with liability ensures that individuals are held liable for their actions. In this way, people

would be less negligent as they would know that any harm they cause because of their negligence would result in legal action. If the injured is able to prove the defendant did in fact, cause the harm due to their negligence, then the defendant is liable to pay for the individual's damages.

The two articles are very different in the message they deliver, but they both deal with different matter of the law. The articles are written in different situations, and they both handle the law charged with the overall topic. The articles provide different scenarios in their attempt to provide the basis of the argument for and against the laws the writers discuss. This way a reader is able to understand the topic in a more broader manner.

Quoted Instructions for "Ayn Rand, "Antitrust: The Rule" Assignment:

According to Ayn Rand, in "Antitrust: The Rule of Unreason" it alleged that the purpose of the Antitrust laws was to protect competition; that purpose was based on the socialistic fallacy that a free, unregulated market will inevitably lead to the establishment of coercive monopolies. But, in fact, no coercive monopoly has ever been or ever can be established by means of free trade on a free market. Every coercive monopoly was created by government intervention into the economy: by special privileges, such as franchises or subsidies, which closed the entry of competitors into a given field, by legislative action...The Antitrust laws were the classic example of a moral inversion prevalent in the history: an example of the victims, the businessmen, taking the blame for the evils caused by government, and the government using its own guilt as a justification for acquiring wider powers, on the pretext of "correcting" the evils. ________________________________________ Write a short (3 pages) paper which focuses on three things. First, it summarizes the main thrust of the readings in a paragraph or two each. Second, it talks about how each of the readings relates to the overall thrust of the module. Third, it gives you a chance to react to the material. In this third piece, you can argue for or against the perspective in one of the readings. Compare and contrast the two.
