This award draws attention to the sublime qualities and virtues of the craft of photography -- to its brilliance, ability to capture the hearts, minds and imaginations of viewers, and the way in which it can penetrate the most complex of subjects, whether life, politics, nature or art, and distill from them a simple, single narrative, framed just right.

Lifetime Achievement:

The Lifetime Achievement award is a special honor that recognizes an individual's achievements not just in a single year or in a single industry but rather over the course of an entire lifetime, which can and often does span multiple generations and eras, making tremendous impact on people and the world around them who have had the honor and privilege to be part of that individual's life, circle or span of influence. This award is given to celebrate the accomplishments of a woman in our community and to thank her for all of her diverse contributions to our Nigerian way of life, to our future, and to our hope.

Comedian of the Year:

She who makes us laugh is sometimes the most important woman in our lives. Laughter brings us back down to earth, helps us to see ourselves for who and what we truly are, restores our sense of self, place, time and even need. Laughter is truly the best medicine. This award is presented to a female comic who has made us laugh, made us think, made us reflect on the truths that sit the heart of her jokes -- for at the bottom of every good joke is a great truth -- and goes to recognize the outstanding achievement that a great comedian performs when she succeeds in putting a great, big smile on the faces of her audience.



Artiste of the Year:

The Artiste of the Year award goes to a member of the artistic community who has demonstrated high regard and care for the artistic vision, process, and presentation of ideas, concepts, narratives, song, dance or drama. The purpose of the award is to congratulate and show our appreciation for the great triumph that is the artistic achievement. The purpose of art is cathartic -- and without catharsis, no one in our community could so effectively be purified year in and year out. This award goes to a female artiste in our community who has helped us take stock of ourselves, our emotions, our thoughts and our wills, so as to help drive us towards our ideal selves. This award is our way of thanking her.

Man of the Year:

This award recognizes the achievement of a man, who has dedicated his activities in the past year to supporting the achievements of women in our community. This award honors his participation in and support of our successes, drives, passions, commitments, time, duty, obligations, needs, and desires. Without him, our work may have been possible -- but it would not have been any easier. His contributions have helped lift ours up and have acted like a spotlight on an otherwise darkened stage, illuminating women in various sectors, fields, and industries -- bringing them hope when they were without, encouragement when they were down, opportunities when doors seemed closed, and support when all appeared lost.
