(Becker, 2006).Shortcomings of the Existential Humanistic Therapeutic Approach
Despite the benefits associated to Existential Humanistic therapeutic approach, it is still argued that the theory lacks a concrete approach in applying an effective treatment using the theoretical intervention. (Strasser, & Strasser, 1997). The theory does not offer a real technique other than emphasizing, listening, responding, and understanding. (Strasser, & Strasser, 1997). Moreover, it is believed that the theory is unable to assist people suffering from mental and personality problems. Humanistic also faces a generalization problem about human nature, which are not complete and accepted because people are different with regards to human nature. (Strasser, & Strasser, 1997).
Conclusion
The study explores the Existential Humanistic Therapeutic Approach to treat people suffering from different psychological disorders. The paper discusses different case studies where therapists use the approach to heal patients. For example, Dr. Schneider uses the approach to address the anger disorder suffered by one of his clients. While the theory might have had some shortcomings, nevertheless, the theory provides an effective foundation to assist client making a positive change.
