This PhD dissertation examines a unique angle of plagiarism: the fact that anti-plagiarism software may be harming the academic environment and the relationships between students and instructors. The author conducts a study on whether Turnitin.com usage among staff erodes communication and trust on campuses, even as it reduces overall plagiarism violations. Therefore, instructors and administrators need to pay attention to how their use of such technologies impacts the organizational culture and student body culture on campus. The author concludes that the technologies can be effectively integrated in universities by helping raise awareness of the problem of plagiarism. READ MORE
