Adolescences participating in risk behaviors are at higher odds of depression, suicidal ideation, and suicide endeavors. Even though the causal direction has not been proven, participation in any sex or drug use is reason for worry, and should be a medical sign of mental health examining for adolescent girls; both boys and girls should be examined if participating in any marijuana or illicit drug use.

Regardless of the limitations, this study points in the direction of the issues of occurrence of depression in adolescence and the purpose of the study is well served to high point the common but overlooked problem of suicide and how depression is the cause. The study was limited research as far as the different treatments that need to be implemented for teenagers. Also, a weakness was that there was not enough information on depression's effect of teenagers from other ethnicities and backgrounds.

When it comes to further research, certain rehabilitation methods need to be explored, particularly for teenage girls. Also, there is a lack of controlled clinical trials supporting the effectiveness of intervention programs for teens, but more research is needed in order to improve and test effective psychosocial and pharmacological treatments for these teenagers. Even though research has clearly recognized the use of antidepressant medicine for adults with depression, far infrequent studies have inspected the use of these agents in teenagers.
